Thumbcache

The per-user Windows thumbnail cache (thumbcache_*.db) introduced in Windows Vista, stored under %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer.

Thumbnail cache ID

The 64-bit identifier that keys each thumbcache entry and matches System_ThumbnailCacheId in the Windows Search index.

Thumbs.db

The hidden per-folder thumbnail cache of Windows 98 to XP, still created by modern Windows on network shares.
